This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the constitutional framework of India, tracing its evolution, principles, and functioning. It familiarizes students with the structure and operation of government institutions while emphasizing the significance of rights, federalism, and decentralization in governance.
Course Units:
Unit 1: Framing of the Indian Constitution This unit covers the historical background, Constituent Assembly debates, influences on the Indian Constitution, and key philosophical foundations such as democracy, secularism, and justice.
Unit 2: Rights in the Indian Constitution It examines Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, Fundamental Duties, and their significance in ensuring democracy and social justice.
Unit 3: Organs of the Government This unit explores the structure, powers, and functions of the Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary, along with concepts like separation of powers, parliamentary system, and judicial review.
